Common Hands launches volunteer onboarding series
New training sessions and tools are making it easier for volunteers to step in and support neighbors with confidence, care, and connection.

This month, we launched a new onboarding series for volunteers. The goal: help people feel confident, prepared, and connected as they step into their roles.
The series includes short training sessions, Q&A calls with experienced volunteers, and digital guides for quick reference. We cover safety, communication tips, and how to handle common scenarios during deliveries or visits.
"We want every volunteer to feel supported from day one," said Luis, one of the onboarding leads. "They don’t need to have all the answers. They just need to know they’re not doing it alone."
So far, over 40 new volunteers have joined through the new onboarding flow. Many say the extra guidance has helped them get started faster and feel more confident during their first few visits.
The series will continue to run monthly. As our programs grow, our volunteer team will too. If you’ve been thinking about signing up, now’s a great time.
