A knock on the door: How a simple delivery made a lasting impact

When Malik heard the knock, he wasn’t expecting much. He had just returned home from the hospital and was trying to manage recovery while living alone. Malik’s delivery was one of over 600 completed last year. The volunteers come from all walks of life and commit their time to ensuring no request goes unanswered.

For Malik, the impact went beyond the delivery. “That visit got me through the week. It reminded me that people really do show up for each other,” he said. He now checks in regularly with his volunteer and has even started telling others about Common Hands.
